Sooo, I'll start from the beginning. :)
I started college in August (yay...sorta). Since the college is about an hour and half away from home, I live on campus. My floor is a Living Learning Center (LLC) coined "Women in Science, Technology, Informatics, and Math (STIM)." Since it's a young LLC (side note, everything is abbreviated on this campus), the organizers wanted to start a blog where students could talk about their experiences with the other girls, research, classes, etc.
I volunteered to contribute to this blog, and in order to do that, I had to sign up for a WordPress account. And in order to make an WordPress account, I had to also make a blog. So...I have a new blog. :)
If you've followed me for any amount of time, I know what you're thinking. Not again, Maria! Considering my post schedule is so wacked and this blog already exists, it's kinda completely random for me to have something new. But the blog profile had to be made so I decided, why not just try starting over when the page already exists?
The blog is called "Maria Kart," a little fun with the pronunciation of my name and a childhood favorite game. I have, surprisingly, been posting on it pretty regularly. There's a few reasons for that:
(1) Maria Kart has much more a focus than any other blog I've ever done. I'm trying as much as possible to document college, and especially the things I do as a Premed undergraduate. There's a lot of other medicine student bloggers, and it's been fun reading other people's posts regarding their own experiences. However, being me, there is a bit of randomness and I add lots of things unrelated to premed all the time too.
(2) Wordpress has a really nice app. I can easily write posts, add pictures and formatting, save and schedule them. Since I'm on my phone all the time, you can expect someone regular posts because of this nice fact.
Okay that's like two reasons but you get the point. For the most part the blog is very similar to this one with more college related updates. Sometimes a fresh start can help provide a boost :) I will keep this blog open, though, and maybe somewhere down the road post something here that doesn't fall well with the tone of Maria Kart. This blog has 6 years of random thoughts and updates from High School Maria, and I'm sure I will enjoy going back through it in the future.
Until then, I hope you check out www.mariakart.wordpress.com! :)
